Greetings. Long time reader first time post. I have recently self installed Easytouch, Intelliph, and IC-40 SWG. Currently everything is functioning but the SWG is exclusively controlled by IntelliPH regardless of settings on Easytouch panel. Does anyone know if this is the intended setup? Much appreciated.

Re: Installed Pentair IntellipH

Greetings. I also have an IntelliPH installed with an Easytouch. Wondering if you know if the Easytouch setting for Intellichlor should be [enabled]. Seems like the only control I have over the SWG is now through the IntelliPH. Does that seem correct?

Re: Installed Pentair IntellipH

I'm getting ready to install my IntellipH. Please tell me the SWG settings still work through the ET and ScreenLogic, and that I won't lose that feature by adding the IntellipH!!

Also, very curious: I lose my SWG in the winter due to water temp. Does the IntellipH continue to work in cold water, even if the IntelliChlor is indicating cold water. I think I understand that the IntellipH makes use of the IntelliChlor's flow switch, but I'm hoping the IntellipH ignores the IntelliChlor's temperature limitations...

Or maybe with the SWG shut down for the winter, the pH-rise will stop, or at least be minimal.

Re: Installed Pentair IntellipH

Is it an IntelliPH or IntelliChem system? The IntelliPH systems are typically just acid dosing systems (no feedback control from a pH probe) while the IntelliChem systems do have feedback control.

The IntelliChem systems are designed to control the SWG based on the output of an ORP probe. Is that what you have?

No. It's an IntellipH.

Re: Installed Pentair IntellipH

So far for me I lose IntelliChlor control with my Easytouch by adding the IntelliPH. I have tried setting Easytouch controls to enable or disable the Intellichlor but changes I make on the Easytouch make no difference to the SWG lights or the IntelliPH screen. Seems like it shouldn't be that way so I'm open for suggestions.

Re: Installed Pentair IntellipH

Pages 7 and 8 of the manual for the Intelliph are pretty descriptive. It sounds like you might have some wiring incorrect.

I installed last night and ran all day today. My IntelliChlor functions have not changed. With both running, I logged into ScreenLogic this morning. All the IntelliChlor features and data were there. I goosed my IntelliChlor output to 80% (in ScreenLogic) and about a minute later the 80% light lit up on the IntelliChlor. Then I restored the output to 55% and a minute later the IntelliChlor's lights returned to 60%. So as near as I can tell, and test, the IntellipH doesn't affect the ET/IntelliChlor functions.

Do double-check your installation, but I'm not sure what you could get wrong. The IntelliChlor plugs into the IntellipH controller, and the IntellipH controller plugs into the transformer. The IntellipH motor plugs into the IntellipH controller. It all can't go together any other way.

My IntelliChlor is enabled. I used ScreenLogic for that. Actually, it was enabled and I didn't change that, it still is.

The only other thing I can think of: I shut down my entire system while wiring everything up. All the breakers. Then I powered everything on. Then I ran the pool's filter mode (which provides power to the transformer, which then powers the IntellipH and IntelliChlor). The IntellipH screen indicated it was interfacing with the IntelliChlor (I'm assuming this is the MO in which it checks for water flow.). If you just plugged things in, maybe you need to power everything down and back up again?

The IntellipH is capable of running the IntelliChlor without an ET. Perhaps that is something that gets enabled in the IntellipH menus? I didn't try that, as I don't want that, so I didn't even get into the IntellipH menus. The thing seems to be doing what I want it to, without me having to configure anything...

Re: Installed Pentair IntellipH

So is the communication cable connected from the IpH to the EasyTouch panel?

Not on mine. There is no terminal block on the IpH to wire it to. Only the same type of cable that runs from an SWG to the transformer (black, with a screw-lock fitting at the end). And the female counterpart that accepts the SWG cable, and a different type of connector that accepts the wiring from the motor. The com cable from the ET is wired to the SWG transformer.

Yes, that would be something to check.

The IpH will not dose when the water temp is below 52F. It's on page 5 of the manual.

Argh. I was afraid of that. Hopefully by next winter my plaster will stabilize, and with the SWG off maybe the acid demand will be manageable (even negligible?)...

Ironic that I'll have more pool tasks in the winter than in the summer!

I hope so. Last winter (without SWG), I was dosing chlorine every other day, at least. Small amounts, I wasn't willing to run it up high and let it drift down... Next winter will be interesting...

Charts are still a little hokie in the beta version, but you can see how it took over a month for my pH to rise (and not by all that much) -

How old is your plaster? What is your fill TA?

Old'ish (5 years). Fill TA is about 110ppm give or take 10ppm (depends on the mix of well and CAP water used by our municipal uses). But there's very little fill water use over the winter as evaporation is minimal.

Yah my plaster isn't a year old yet. And my fill TA is 230. But I didn't consider the winter evaporation, not much here either. That'll help.

It's only been a day, so too soon to say. And it's not the IntelliChem system (which measures the water and dispenses chlorine and acid accordingly), I've only got the IntelliChlor and the IntellipH, which are just "dumb" machines that dispense "x" amount per day, regardless of water chemistry. I wanted to try those first. So far the SWG is performing quite well, the FC is stable and no more chlorine handling. I'm hoping for the same from the acid system, but it'll be a week or two before I know how well that does...
